My story began with a stutter. Growing up, communication was difficult for me, so I learned to become an observer. It was fascinating to see the unspoken rhythms of human connection how meaning was made not just with words, but in the spaces between them. I saw two powerful forces at play: the wonder of spontaneous expression and the rigor of structured understanding.

 

That early challenge sparked a lifelong curiosity about how things truly work, a curiosity that has defined my entire journey. From my service in the US Army to leadership in manufacturing, from teaching to administration and consulting, one pattern became undeniably clear: Success is never about control; it's about cultivating curiosity and belonging.

I’ve seen firsthand the incredible results when cultures reward creative wonder and disciplined rigor equally. And I’ve witnessed the immense cost; the stalled projects, the frustrated talent, the squandered potential when that balance is lost. Organizations, much like individuals, can get stuck. They become all wonder with no way to execute, or all rigor with no space to imagine. This is the core of our work at 5th Hammer.
